The Vandal Resistant Vent (Patent Pending) is
used for water reservoirs & other waste storage units with
vents. The purpose of the Vandal Resistant Vent is designed to
discourage vandals from injecting a hazardous solution into the
potable water system through the reservoir.
The vent has a unique dual wall system and
is designed to guard against a hazardous solution entering your
reservoir or water storage unit. The dual wall system
encompasses an internal component placed inside of a carbon
steel outer vent. The internal component will restrict a
solution from going into the reservoir.
Application:
The vent is intended to be used for
underground water storage reservoirs where the vent is extended
through the reservoir roof and into the elements. It may also
be used in other situations that present a concern.
Design:
The dual wall system is designed to guard
against a hazardous solution entering the reservoir or water
storage unit. The dual wall system encompasses an internal
component made of PVC pipe placed inside of an outer vent made
of carbon steel. The internal PVC component will restrict a
solution from going into the reservoir. Instead, the solution
will build up in the outer vent shell until it reaches the
crest and will then run back out at the screened opening.
Material:
The outer shell of the vent pipe is made of
standard weight steel, with the inner vent made of
polyvinylchloride. The flanges are carbon steel and ductile
iron and bolting is carbon steel. Stainless and tamper
resistant bolts available upon request. The exterior of the
vent is painted with a coat of red primer.
Attachment:
The vent may be attached to an existing
flanged riser pipe or to a newly installed riser pipe:
1: To
maintain the same vent area as an existing vent pipe, the model
VRVR will be required. The vent is provided with a standard 125
lb pattern flange. The VRVR utilizes a Reducer Flange for
attaching to an existing flange.
2: On a new
installation, the model VRV would be recommended, and would not
require the reducer flange.
Sample Specification
The reservoir vent shall be a Vandal
Resistant Vent (VRV). The vent shall be a dual wall system
which encompasses an internal PVC vent within an outer carbon
steel vent. The vent is to guard against a hazardous solution
from being introduced into the reservoir. The VRV shall be
provided with a 125 lb. pattern flange and bird screen. The
exterior shall be prime painted. Finish painting shall be field
painted as noted in the paint specification. The vent shall be
as manufactured by Pre-Vent Industries, LLC.
